Should I specialise in a particular vertical or a technology

I am a senior software engineer and have worked in J2EE technologies in various verticals like finance and banking, retail, etc. From a long-term point of view would it be better for me to specialize in a particular vertical by doing most of my projects in that vertical and understand the unique business and technological requirements of that vertical or should I focus on a particular technology and develop deep expertise in that technology and work across verticals. Would love to get your views.
